Jill Gunn, a native Texan, graduated from North Texas University in 1968 with a degree in Fashion Design and Illustration. She worked in Dallas 15 years as a clothing designer.
Although graduating with a degree in art, Jill did not take any painting classes with her major, but always admired watercolors because of the light and transparency of color. She took a few classes over the years and painted sporadically. Only after moving to Augusta, in 1996, and taking a class taught by Jim Gensheer, did she become serious in painting.
Jill has recently put together two elements she enjoys, architecture and gardening, as painting subjects. She was challenged to paint white objects, as white paint isn't used in watercolors, in a workshop last summer taught by Sue Archer.
Jill and her husband Mike live in Martinez and have one son who is serving in the U.S. Army.
