Ruth earned her degree in Fine Art and Design in Portsmouth, England where her main concentration was printmaking. It was here that she first experimented in the use of color.
Since then she has utilized her art in many ways: as the art teacher at a private elementary school in Kenya; designing and painting theatre sets in South Africa; teaching Montessori kindergarten children in Ohio. Her move to the CSRA in 2002 prompted a return to her roots by taking a variety of art classes. There are some wonderful teachers in the area!
Having worked mostly with pastels, charcoal and some oils, she "discovered" acrylics early last year - a medium she is currently exploring that suit her methods well.
Ruth has exhibited her work at The Sacred Heart Cultural Center, the Columbia County and Euchee Creek Libraries; The Gertrude Herbert Artist's Market; had several pieces in Expositon de Nus Artistique and Exposition D'Art Figuratif, and has donated artwork to various local charities.
